This novel tells the story of Hugh Carver’s experience as an undergraduate student at Sanford College, a fictional, upscale, liberal arts school in Jazz Age New England.

The second book about Pollyanna Whittier follows the events of her life in Boston at age 13 and then in rural Vermont at the age of 20.

An orphan’s unrelenting optimism sees her through adversity and lifts up her new community.
