Notes and Experience

Decided to enroll — in a spririt of civic participation and to be supportive.

Prime mover is Kollin Napier.

Administered through Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Enrollment is fairly straightforward, only minor hiccups. You must send an e-mail to get access to Canvas. Courses are remote and asynchronous.

The course NVIDIA Generate AI looked like the best fit. Syllabus shows it's not a first introduction, is a technical course. Bingo! Non-credit, non-certificate. The student is encouraged to seek two credential offered by NVIDIA. I won't do that. There are optional coding labs, some of which looks like I will be able to do. Python and linear algebra. But, not all. Hardware limitations. That's fine. Expect 25-40 hours. Seems reasonable.

Napier's Collaborator: Sam Raymond at Dartmouth.

Completed the course front-matter and administrivia. The expected level of bureacracy.

Saw no specific prohibitions against using the Necronomicon, the Malleus Maleficarum, and the collected writings of Aleister Crowley as training data to bring about a dark singularity and precipitate the rise of dread Cthulhu from his slumber in submerged R'lyeh, thus deliver to the Great Old Ones their prophesied destiny. So, that's still on the table. Framework just started promoting an AI model desktop. I'll put a pin in this for later.

Fingers crossed. This might be fun!

Created this blog post. Time to start.

Would be nice to have a speed control on the audio lectures. Many audio segments are very short. Slide 24, Video playback aborted due to network error. But download worked. Finish page 1.1 and stop.
