Yamtrack Import of Goodreads Library
Posted on Jul 10, 2026 in blog
TL;DR: Create an account on Hardcover and import your Goodreads library there first.
I recently began using Yamtrack. I like it!
But, I had difficulties importing my .csv library from Goodreads.
If Yamtrack does not recognize a book, the entire import may fail, the book may be skipped, or a different book with a similar title may be imported instead.
For the arcanophile who reads many old and obscure works, the subsequent cleanup can be tedious. And there is no bulk delete.
Since Yamtrack uses Hardcover as a source, any book that is in Hardcover's catalog should be recognized by Yamtrack. Thus, it is helpful to have all of your books in Hardcover. For me, importing a Goodreads library into Hardcover went very smoothly. This required creating an account, which was free and hassle-free. I didn't encounter any errors during the import, and any unknown works were added to Hardcover's library automatically. Once a book exists in Hardcover, it becomes visible to Yamtrack—including the obscure ones.
In hindsight, importing my Goodreads library into Hardcover first would have made the subsequent import into Yamtrack much smoother.
